Reduce lag on your Enshrouded server

What to try when players snap back, combat feels delayed, or movement becomes unresponsive.

We manage the hosting, but some performance problems come from Enshrouded itself and need fixes from the game’s developers. The steps below can help reduce lag, though we cannot guarantee they will resolve every issue.

If the experience is not working for you, you can request a refund of your initial subscription payment under our 14-day money-back guarantee.

Stay closer together

When players explore distant parts of the map, the server has to handle more areas at once. Try gathering your group in the same area and checking whether movement and combat improve. Exploring together can reduce the load on the server.

Try Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi

An unstable Wi-Fi connection can cause delayed actions or make your character snap back to an earlier position, even when the server is running well.

If possible, connect your computer to your router with an Ethernet cable and try playing again. This is a useful first check if one player is experiencing lag while the rest of the group can play normally.

Restart the server

Enshrouded may become unstable after around 8–12 hours of continuous running. If lag develops during a long session or persists, try a restart. It may help with temporary performance problems, but it will not resolve an unstable connection or ongoing server load.

A restart disconnects everyone playing and installs any available game update. Let your group know before restarting.

  1. Open Overview.
  2. Choose Restart.
